SARS Auction Somizi’s Furniture Amid Divorce Settlement Drama
Mohale will have a fist, oh we mean fit, after hearing this news. Well, it seems like Somizi Mhlongo is not living his dream as the taxman has disgraced him by selling off his furniture.
Unfortunately, this happened last week and that’s just the beginning of his trouble as they’re gunning for more. According to an article on Sunday World the Idols SA judge owes The South African Revenue Service (SARS) over R3 million in taxes.

This has been an ongoing war between Somizi and the taxman but SARS is winning this time. In a notice of sale in execution, Kgomotso Mphahlele, sheriff of Sandton North, said she had put Somizi’s furniture up for auction to recover the funds he owed for failing to pay at least R3.5 million in tax debt he owed since 2014.
According to the notice, the goods were sold in response to a judgment obtained by SARS in the Johannesburg High Court on November 5, 2015.
A Samsung washing machine, a white sculpture (Guman Head), a Le Creuset bowl, three plastic bar chairs, two red human statues, a Hisense television set with a remote, a Smeg dishwasher, two brass painted coffee tables, one Carrol Boyes knife set with stand, a Carrol Boyes bowl, five different Le Creuset pots, a Gold Air-gas heater, a DeLonghi oil heater, and a Samsung fridge were among the items auctioned.

It doesn’t stop there, SARS has also ordered television producer Legend Manqele, who produced his reality show, Living the Dream with Somizi, to pay R1.5 million of his and ex-husband Mohale’s royalties into a SARS account rather than their lawyer’s account, despite their earlier instruction.
Manqele confirmed that he received a letter from SARS ordering him to pay the money into its coffers and that he did so. It seems like Mohale might have to walk away from the marriage empty-handed.
