With WWDC 2022 just over a week away, more information about what Apple may announce at its annual developer conference is emerging.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests in his latest Power On newsletter that the company will have a lot to say about iOS 16, including improvements to the lock screen.

According to Gruman, the next version of Apple’s mobile operating system will include wallpapers with widget-like functionality.

Furthermore, iOS 16 is said to include support for an always-on display feature that will initially be limited to the company’s next iPhone Pro models.

The feature would enable those devices to display notifications and other glanceable information without having to fully wake their displays.

This is a feature that has long been available on many Android phones, and Apple was rumored to have planned to include it in the iPhone 13 last year but changed its mind.

Reiterating his previous predictions, Gurman claims that iOS 16 will include improvements to the operating system’s handling of multitasking and windowing.

Gurman cites a recent tweet from developer Steve Troughton-Smith as evidence that Apple is likely working on a way for iOS users to resize app windows.

This is a feature that would be especially useful on the iPad. Gurman anticipates that the company will also add new social network-like features to Messages.

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to find out what Apple has in store for iOS 16. WWDC 2022 begins on June 6th.
