Orlando Pirates have a weapon in Sipho Mbule

The 27-year-old Orlando Pirates star grabbed his first goal for the club in what was his 16th outing on the grass.

The Bethlehem-born maestro came as the Sea Robbers led Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila 2-1 at the Moses Mabhida, before helping Orlando Pirates to a 4-1 victory.

A RELIABLE SHARP-SHOOTER FOR ORLANDO PIRATES

According to club legend Josephs, Mbule is and will always be dangerous in the box and all the way to the 18-yard area.

“People have been saying he doesn’t score goals,” Josephs said on the Soccer Beat podcast. “Give that boy time space around in the box. He will put that ball in the back of the net, and that’s what he’s done.

“Because everybody knows with him around the box, even in the six-yard box, he can play a through ball for the winger.

“When he’s in the six-yard, that’s the quality of the MasterChef. Now you give him that space on the edge of the box with time and space.

CRITICS SILENCED?

“He sees the goal, my friend, it’s like he sees three sets of goals. People were complaining that he does not score goals, what do they say now?

Josephs explained that the goal came because the opposition afforded him too much time on the ball, stressing that a player of his quality will always punish that kind of space.

The Orlando Pirates goalkeeping icon noted that Mbule often joins the move late, arriving around the edge of the box after others have made forward runs, which allows him to find pockets of space in dangerous areas.

The Mitchells Plain-born legend said that the Mbule does not need much time or space to make an impact, warning that if given that opportunity, he will punish teams, as shown by the way he calmly found the back of the net.

“So Mbule will find his feet. He’s going to need a lot of fitness in that eight position. I see the quality in him. He’s capable,” Josephs concluded.
