- An alleged Nigerian drug dealer was shot and killed during an anti-drug operation in Ekurhuleni over the weekend.
- ActionSA says the operation forms part of efforts to dismantle drug syndicates in the city.
- In a separate incident, TMPD arrested three suspects in Pretoria after drugs were found during a house search in Lotus Gardens.
A Nigerian national, who is allegedly involved in drug trafficking, was shot and killed in the City of Ekurhuleni over the weekend.
ActionSA confirmed that the alleged drug dealer was fatally shot during an anti-drug operation on Sunday.
Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate, Xolani Khumalo, was part of the operation.
In 2025, Khumalo was embroiled in controversy after a suspected drug dealer, who was being interrogated by Khumalo and his crew, passed away under mysterious circumstances.
“For too long, drug syndicates have terrorised our communities through violence, intimidation, and total disregard for the law.
ActionSA will continue to support every decisive and lawful measure to dismantle this scourge and confront the violent resistance of criminals who have grown comfortable believing they are untouchable. That era must and will end,” said Siyanda Makhubo, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate.
Makhubo says ActionSA has a clear plan to reverse Ekurhuleni’s descent into lawlessness.
Meanwhile, the Tshwane Metro Police Department arrested a Nigerian national and two South Africans for the possession and dealing of drugs in Pretoria.
The arrests followed a tip-off regarding suspected drug dealing at a house in Lotus Gardens on Saturday.
TMPD officers acted on the information and conducted a tactical operation, during which they located and searched the identified house.
Crystal meth and Mandrax were discovered during the search.
