South African rapper Chad Da Don, born Donovan Chad Mansoor, is celebrating a major personal milestone after reaching four years clean from drugs, a journey he says nearly cost him his life.

Reflecting on how far he has come, the So Cold hitmaker shared a raw look back at his darkest moments, admitting he barely recognises the person he was during his struggles with substance abuse.

“I look back and don’t recognise the man I see when I look at the pics. I nearly died from being in a really dark space and having mental health issues, overdosing on drugs, and getting caught up in the wrong things,” he said.

Now in a much healthier space, Chad used the moment to encourage others who may be fighting similar battles, especially those feeling close to giving up.

“No one said it would be easy, but I promise you it’s worth it. Don’t give up,” he added.

His recovery has also been a deeply emotional journey for his family.

Chad’s mother, Norma Mansoor, expressed her gratitude and pride, acknowledging the toll the experience took on her as a parent.

“God heard my cries, saw my tears, every day trying to keep it together for Chad,” she said.
