  • 35 charges are being faced by the accused, including murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
  • 12 March 2026 is the new date set for the pre-trial hearing following the postponement.
  • State disclosures are expected to be handed over to the defence team this Friday.

The pre-trial hearing of suspected crime kingpin Katiso ‘KT’ Molefe and his three co-accused has been pushed back to next month following a brief appearance in the Johannesburg High Court.

Molefe arrived at court on Thursday under heavy security, transported in a bulletproof vehicle and flanked by a convoy of bodyguards armed with high-calibre weapons.

This marked his first appearance in the High Court since the case was officially transferred for trial.

The group faces a staggering 35 charges, including the high-profile murders of popular musicians DJ Sumbody (Oupa Sefoka) and DJ Vetties (Hector Buthelezi).

Political pressure allegedly led to Musa Khawula’s arrest

Molefe is alleged to have ordered the hits on the two artists.

Additionally, Molefe and his co-accused Tiegoe Mabusela, Musa Kekana, and Michael Taustand accused of the killings of Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart and Johannesburg businessman Don Tindleni.

The postponement was granted to allow for the necessary legal administrative steps.

The State is scheduled to make full disclosures to the defence on Friday, providing the legal teams with the evidence required to prepare their cases.

The matter will return to court on 12 March 2026 for the formal pre-trial hearing.
