Kaizer Chiefs have now won 11 matches across all competitions this season, and a clear pattern is forming.

Eight of those victories have come via narrow 1-0 scorelines.

That run includes wins over Richards Bay and Polokwane City at home, away victories against Golden Arrows and Durban City, and another tight success against Arrows at Naturena.

Kaizer Chiefs have also edged ZESCO United twice in CAF Confederation Cup action, while Marumo Gallants were beaten by the same familiar margin.

CO-COACH KHALIL BEN YOUSSEF PROVIDES REASONS BEHIND THE TIGHT RESULTS

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef has pointed to the tight schedule as a major factor behind the current pattern.

“I think we speak a lot with the players, we make specific work for them. Now, recently, we have had no time for a lot of work,” Ben Youssef told journalists.

“We are in a situation to do just one training session before every game, so we don’t have time or space to work. But we are using videos with our analysts to advise them [the players], to give them more solutions.”

Ben Youssef said he believes the performances are gradually improving, even if the scorelines remain narrow.

“I think we are in a good way, but step by step, they will be better. If you remember the last two games before the break, Chippa United and TS Galaxy, we were dominating both games, but we were unlucky not to score.

“Now we improve a little bit, we are winning the games, we are scoring. I know 1-0 you are always in a critical situation because the opponent can come back and score the equaliser.

“We are working and step by step it will be better,” the Kaizer Chiefs tactician concluded.
