Sundowns starting 11 vs Al-Hilal

Sundowns have a shot at extending their top lead in Group B to three points at 21:00 in Kigali.

Last Friday in Tshwane, Kabo Yellow shared the spoils in a thrilling 2-2 draw against the Sudanese giants, who are playing their home games away from home due to the civil war in Sudan.

Both teams are level on five points after three matches, with Sundowns holding a superior goal difference.

Coach Miguel Cardoso has named his side to go all out in Rwanda, recalling some key players from recent fixtures.

The starting 11 is: Onyango; Khuliso Mudau, Keanu Cupido, Sibusiso Sibiya, Teboho Mokoena, Marcelo Allende, Nuno Santos, Brayan León, Tahsreeq Matthews, Arthur Sales, Ndamane.

WHAT TO KNOW

Speaking to the media before the game, coach Cardoso demanded strong commitment from his players to secure the vital points needed.

“We were punished by the mistakes we made [in the first leg], but we have corrected those errors,” the Portuguese told journalists.

Al-Hilal have had a full week to regroup and get ready for tonight’s clash, but they’ll be without Emmanuel Flomo, who is serving a suspension after his red card in the first leg.

Their coach, Laurentiu Reghecampf, hasn’t hidden his respect for Sundowns, calling them the favourites in the group, but he insists his side is ready to fight for every ball.

Both teams are still unbeaten, but a win tonight could be the difference between controlling the group or playing catch-up.

DR Congo’s Saint-Eloi Lupopo (four points) and MC Alger (one point) are waiting in the wings, so there’s plenty at stake in this tightly contested Group C.
