Sarah-Kate Accetta, the ex-wife of former Hot FM presenter Darren Scott, took to Facebook to pen a touching birthday tribute to him on Tuesday 27 January.

DARREN SCOTT’S EX-WIFE: ‘THERE WAS NO ONE LIKE DARREN’

Former radio host Darren Scott’s ex-wife, Sarah-Kate Accetta penned a lenghty and touching tribute on what would have been his 62nd birthday on Tuesday 27 January. She said that she had baked his favourite cake. Sarah-Kate also expressed that there was no one like Darren. Take a look…

“Today would have been your birthday, Darren. I baked your favourite cake, the ‘Strawberry hamburger’ today. And the first thing I want to do, is call you to tell you that I made it with healthier ingredients than Kristin Saemundsson original recipe ,” she wrote.

“I know the boys will enjoy it but not as much as another “You wont believe this” story alongside it! When I tell you there was NO ONE like Darren. And I do mean nobody! South Africa has produced many remarkable radio legends, but Darren was in a category entirely of his own. He moved effortlessly between radio, television, news, sport, and music in a way no one else ever has. He was sharp, passionate, opinionated, curious, and relentlessly driven. He was in my opinion, the absolute best not only because of his extraordinary talents but because he never worked a day in his life. He lived out his dreams,” she continued.

‘I SEE DARREN EVERY SINGLE DAY’

Sarah-Kate also stated that she sees Darren in both their sons.

“I see Darren in them every single day. In our eldest, Mark, the stubbornness, the intelligence, the fire. He’s studying sports broadcasting at school now, and I smile knowing how proud Darren would be. He was always so supportive, always pulling him into name reads and ads, letting him feel the magic of broadcasting early,” she went on to write.

“And in Matthew, oh boy! That cheeky grin, the mischief, the sparkle in his eye. That unmistakable twinkle that says I know something you don’t. Every time he scores a touchdown, he looks up and does a special sign just for Darren. Just between them. Your legacy lives on in the boys who carry part of you forward in their own unique ways,” she added.

The radio DJ passed away in May 2025 after a long battle with cancer. Scott was diagnosed with stage 4 malignant melanoma, a battle he fought for many years.
