Bonang Matheba trends as Rea Gopane’s AI song Suka goes viral

Rea Gopane is once again dominating South African social media timelines, with his latest AI-generated song Suka gaining traction, and dragging Bonang Matheba’s name back into the conversation in the process.

Years after his explosive legal showdown with the media personality, Gopane’s unexpected rise as a musician has reignited online chatter, with many users openly speculating about whether his sudden musical grind is financially motivated.

As Suka continues to rack up streams, social media users have been quick to link the song’s success to the unresolved shadow of his defamation case with Matheba.

The former podcaster’s transition into music has been swift and calculated.

His recent releases have flooded timelines, positioning him as a polarising but undeniably visible figure in the digital music space.

While debates around artificial intelligence in music continue in the background, much of the online conversation has centred on money, and who might ultimately benefit from the song’s growing popularity.

As Suka gained momentum, Bonang Matheba began trending alongside Gopane’s name, with users joking that the AI-powered hit could finally help him settle his long-standing legal fallout.

One X user wrote, “Bonang will probably get her money with bonus 🔥🔥🔥🤣. Big ups 2 artificial intelligence.”

Another post echoed similar sentiments, tying Gopane’s relentless output directly to his past troubles. “Rea Gopane’s work ethic is crazy or ke R500k ya Bonang?” the user wrote. “Man I wish him well though… He gotta work. This year ke Vaya ka spirit sa Rea. This babe won’t buy itself.”

Suka has climbed to the top of Gopane’s most-streamed songs on Spotify, pulling in over 1.5 million streams in just over a month.
