WATCH LIVE | Fashion designer Valentino Garavani laid to rest

Italian designer simply known as Valentino died at the age of 93 and is being laid to rest in Rome.

The designer had no children with his partner of over 65 years, Giancarlo Giammetti.

Tributes poured in from around the world for the man who graced red carpets from Hollywood to London.

A statement announcing Valentino’s death and funeral plans:

“Valentino Garavani passed away today at his Roman residence, surrounded by his loved ones,” his foundation said in a statement posted on his Instagram. A funeral is planned for Friday 23 January in the Italian capital, and there will be a lying in state at his company headquarters near the Spanish Steps on Wednesday and Thursday.

“The lying in state will be held at PM23 in Piazza Mignanelli 23 on Wednesday, January 21st and Thursday, January 22nd, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm,” read the statement.

“The funeral will take place on Friday, January 23rd at the Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, in Piazza della Repubblica 8 in Rome, at 11 am,” read the statement.
