While Mzansi was reeling from a tragic accident that killed 13 school children in Vanderbijlpark, the Sbahle Siyakhula CEO, Sbahle Mzizi offered her condolences to the families of the fallen angels.

Taking to her Instagram page, Sbahle issued a statement to convey her touching condolence message.

“Our hearts are heavy as we extend our deepest condolences to the families, learners and communities affected by the tragic loss of the school children in the Vaal,” read the statement.

“We send love, strength and comfort to every parent and loved one during this incredibly painful time, you are in our thoughts and prayers.”

The deadly accident happened on Monday morning at around 7 am in Vanderbijlpark, where a minibus taxi collided with a truck. The initial death toll stood at 11, but later rose to 13. The driver survived the crash.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the minibus driver attempted to overtake a vehicle in front of him and did not notice an oncoming truck, resulting in a head-on collision. Police have opened 13 cases of culpable homicide.

Meanwhile, Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi said the taxi driver involved in Monday’s tragic scholar transport crash in Vanderbijlpark was driving with an expired public driver’s permit.

According to BBC, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa called Monday’s crash “distressing”.

“Our children are the nation’s most precious assets and we must do all we can – from observing the rules of the road to the quality of service providers appointed to transport scholars – to protect learners,” Ramaphosa added.
