Kaizer Chiefs provided the team news update ahead of the Betway Premiership clash against Golden Arrows.

Following the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) break, Amakhosi will host Arrows on Tuesday night at 19:30 at the FNB Stadium.

KAIZER CHIEFS CO-COACH CEDRIC KAE CONFIRMS INJURIES

Speaking to the media before the encounter, co-coach Cedric Kaze confirmed that the squad is largely healthy.

Mthethwa, Cross and Matlou are the exceptions. “We have a full squad and players coming back from injury, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, George Matlou and Bradley Cross are not available,” the Burundian said.

“But Gaston Sirino and Glody Lilepo are back from injury, and everyone is fit and ready for tomorrow,” Kaze added.

THE SEASON SO FAR

Before the AFCON break on 7 December, Kaizer Chiefs were quietly putting together a respectable run in the Betway Premiership.

Even after the shock departure of coach Nasreddine Nabi in October, the Glamour Boys managed to steady the ship, ending the first round in fourth place on 24 points.

Under co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, Chiefs suffered just one defeat in 13 matches, helped by a five-game unbeaten start between August and September that laid a solid foundation.

The year, however, ended on a flatter note. Kaizer Chiefs were held to consecutive 0–0 draws by Chippa United and TS Galaxy in early December, dropping momentum heading into the break.

At the back, Amakhosi remained disciplined and difficult to break down, with goalkeeper Brandon Petersen registering several clean sheets across the campaign. In cup competition, though, there was disappointment, as Kaizer Chiefs exited the Carling Knockout at the Round of 16 stage, losing to Stellenbosch FC on penalties.
