South African radio and TV presenter Mthawelanga Mgudlwa, popularly known as Anele Mdoda, has reintroduced herself, and confirmed that she is married.

‘MY NAME IS MTHAWELANGA’

At the beginning of this year, Anele Mdoda confirmed that she is in fact married, after many had been speculating. The 947 radio host took to Instagram to reintroduce herself as Mthawelanga. She also changed her surname to Mgudlwa, which appears on her Instagram. In the photos, she is seen celebrating Xhosa traditions. Take a look…

“My name is Mthawelanga, lovely to meet you 💍 🐄 💍 🐄 💍 🐄 💍 🐄,” she captioned the post.

ANELE: ‘FINALLY YOU GUYS CAN CALL ME MARRIED’

When she returned to work earlier this year, Anele told listeners that after a year, she is officially married. In a clip shared on TikTok, Anele is seen dressed in beautiful traditional attire.

“After a very long year, finally you guys can call me married,” she said.

Anele married AmaXhosa Prince Bonelela “Buzza” James Mgudlwa from the AbaThembu tribe. She revealed that they were registered at home affairs as well. Anele also addressed the ceremony that took place in Cape Town in April 2025, which many thought was her actual wedding. This was after photos emerged from a traditional Xhosa ceremony in the Mother City, where she was draped in umbhaco (traditional Xhosa fabric) and intricate beadwork.

The radio host explained that she was only considered married after certain traditions took place at her husband’s family’s ground. She explained the traditions in a clip that was shared on to TikTok.

“Now our ancestors recognise you, now you are a wife,” she explained as she confirmed this took place on 29 December 2025.
