  • Five suspects are appearing before the Vereeniging Magistrates’ Court for the murder of two women from Poorjie near Orange Farm.
  • The victims were reported missing on 31 December 2025 and were later found dead, while their vehicle was recovered abandoned in Brits.
  • Police arrested the suspects in Evaton and Germiston and seized an unlicensed firearm during the operation.

Five suspects are appearing before the Vereeniging Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning in connection with the brutal murder of two women near Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg.

The two victims were reported missing on 31 December 2025, after the suspects allegedly demanded a ransom.

Following an extensive police search, their partially decomposed bodies were discovered last week, with no trace of the vehicle they had left home in.

A preliminary investigation led police to Brits in the North West, where the victims’ vehicle was found abandoned at a car wash. The suspects were arrested in Evaton and Germiston on Tuesday, 13 January 2026.

The group is facing charges of hijacking, kidnapping and murder. Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhuluwi said officers also seized an unlicensed firearm during the arrests.

“Four of the suspects were arrested in Evaton, while the fifth was arrested in Germiston. The vehicle was fitted with false number plates but had the correct disc. The firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing to determine whether it was used in the commission of a crime,” Nevhuhulwi said.

Proceedings are currently underway at the Vereeniging Magistrates’ Court.
