South African DJ and producer Prince Kaybee has sparked conversation online after sharing his thoughts on the lasting influence of deep house music on the global soundscape.

Taking to X, the award-winning musician described deep house as the foundation from which all house music originates, noting that creatives inevitably draw inspiration from the genre at some point in their careers.

While acknowledging that not every track may resonate, Prince Kaybee emphasized that deep house’s impact on mainstream house music cannot be ignored.

“Deep House will always be the root of all house music. At least as a creative you’ll in some way encounter an inspiration from Deep House. Not all songs are worth the inspiration but its influence in mainstream house music is undeniable,” he wrote.

The producer went on to pay tribute to the pioneers of the genre, expressing gratitude to those who laid the groundwork for today’s house music culture.

“To the fathers and creators of deep house, well done and thank you,” he added.
