Felix Hlophe announces new show amid abuse allegation

Radio presenter and comedian Felix Hlophe is preparing to step into the spotlight with a new comedy special that promises more than just laughs.

Titled Runaway Bride, the one-night pop-up show is set to take place on January 31 at Pietermaritzburg City Hall, offering audiences an intimate and thought-provoking live experience.

Rather than relying on spectacle or controversy, Runaway Bride leans into reflection, using humour as a vehicle to explore love, identity, tradition and the pressure to live up to expectations that no longer feel authentic.

The show interrogates the stories society tells about marriage, masculinity, femininity and the idea of “forever,” while examining what happens when real life pushes back against those inherited scripts.

Through sharp comedy, poetic moments and raw storytelling, Felix invites audiences into conversations that are often avoided, moments where public opinion clashes with private truth, where choosing peace means disappointing others, and where walking away can require more courage than staying.

Drawing from lived experiences and cultural observation, the one-man show promises a deeply human journey that moves between laughter and discomfort, asking difficult questions without offering easy answers. It is a performance designed to resonate long after the punchlines land.

News of the show has already sparked conversation online, with many fans expressing excitement about Felix’s candid approach.

“Can’t wait for Runaway Bride! Felix always brings the mood and real talk,” one X user wrote, while another added, “This sounds like a show I need, real, raw and funny as hell.”

Others responded with curiosity shaped by Felix’s recent personal moments that have played out publicly.

“Interesting theme given everything online lately… looking forward to the honesty but hope it’s thoughtful too,” one commenter noted.
