Malema On Hillary Gardee’s Murder: “They Took The Wrong One This Time Around”

According to Julius Malema, the EFF has dispatched its own investigators to look into the death of Hillary Gardee, the daughter of its former secretary-general and attorney Godrich Gardee.

Malema was speaking to reporters outside the Gardee family home, where he and other party leaders had paid their respects.

Malema stated that investigators were not looking for suspects outside of South Africa because her death was attributed to “an internal mission,” and that they were making progress in uncovering the facts surrounding her death.

“We want to teach them a lesson they will never forget for the rest of their lives because they took the wrong one this time around. Anyone who touches our children touches us. They don’t want to see the ugly side of the EFF. They invited the ugly side and we will show them,” said Malema.

He stated that the party does not want to commit to a timetable for apprehending the suspects, but that its investigators will work tirelessly to find them “no matter how long it takes.”

Malema described Hillary’s death as a “nightmare” for the EFF and stated that he cannot guarantee what would happen to the perpetrators if he caught them first.

“There are all manner of emotions that are going through my body now and I must not be the first one to catch them,” he said.

Malema also dismissed theories linking Hillary’s death to the party’s open border policy. He claimed that killing women was common in South Africa prior to the formation of the EFF. On Tuesday, Hillary’s body was discovered outside Mbombela. She was last seen on April 29 while shopping at a plaza in Mbombela.
