hidinma Adetshina shows support for Super Eagles during Afcon 2025

Former Miss South Africa contestant Chidinma Adetshina has once again publicly thrown her support behind Nigeria, taking to social media to cheer on the Super Eagles ahead of their match against Mozambique on Monday night.

Adetshina, who now represents Nigeria following her controversial exit from the Miss South Africa competition, shared a short but spirited message on X as the national team prepared for their fixture.

“It’s Super Eagles day. Let’s fly higher than weather!” she tweeted.

Her post quickly attracted attention online, largely due to the lingering debate surrounding her nationality and her participation in Miss SA 2024.

At the time, Adetshina’s involvement in the pageant sparked widespread backlash, with many South Africans questioning her eligibility and ultimately rallying against her participation, which led to her withdrawal from the competition.

Shortly after, the Miss Nigeria Universe organisation reached out to Adetshina, opening the door for her to represent Nigeria on the international stage; a move that marked a new chapter in her pageant journey.

The timing of her Super Eagles message further fuelled online conversation, coming just hours after Bafana Bafana were eliminated from Afcon 2025 following a 2–1 defeat to Cameroon.

As a result, her tweet drew reactions from both South African and Nigerian users, with opinions sharply divided.

Some critics used the moment to mock her, with one user commenting, “Representing a disgraced country is wild,” while another bluntly stated, “Bro, u are not Nigeria.”

Others, however, praised Adetshina for standing firm and showing national pride.

One supporter wrote, “Sure knows how to cook… more love from this side,” while another defended her amid the backlash, pointing out the emotions surrounding South Africa’s Afcon exit and backing her decision to support Nigeria.
