  • Limpopo police have confirmed the recovery of a seventh body following the horrific crash on the R518 near Mogalakwena Bridge that occurred on Christmas Eve.
  • The body of a male victim was discovered by police divers on Friday, 26 December, approximately one kilometre away from the original accident site after an extensive search.
  • The tragedy involved a Suzuki mini-truck carrying 14 people that allegedly lost control and struck a bridge barrier; seven others remain in hospital as police investigate a case of culpable homicide.

Police in Limpopo have recovered a seventh body following a tragic crash on the R518 near Mogalakwena Bridge in the Waterberg District.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the body of a man was found about a kilometre from the crash site on Friday, 26 December 2025, after search and rescue operations continued along the river.

The recovery follows a fatal accident on Wednesday, 24 December 2025, in which a white Suzuki mini truck travelling towards Mokopane allegedly crashed into a bridge barrier at around 9:30.

Six people, including two men and two women, were confirmed dead at the scene.

Five adults and two children who were injured in the crash were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police have opened a case of culpable homicide, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
