Police launch manhunt after 13-year-old girl shot in Thokoza CIT heist

- The suspects escaped in four vehicles as police launched a manhunt.
Gauteng police are searching for suspects involved in a cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery in Thokoza on Saturday afternoon, 27 December 2025, during which a 13-year-old girl was struck by a stray bullet.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the suspects used a white Mercedes-Benz to force the cash-in-transit vehicle to capsize.
“Several suspects then disarmed the security officers and bombed the armoured vehicle. They made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, while other suspects fired shots at the escort vehicle,” SAPS said in a statement.
The suspects fled the scene in four vehicles, while the injured girl was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
