‘Wicked’ star Cynthia Erivo appointed MBE

Wicked and Wicked: For Good star Cynthia Erivo has been appointed Member of the British Empire (MBE) for services to music and drama.

The 38-year-old London-born actress and singer has vast experience on Britain’s West End and Broadway in New York.

The seasoned entertainer has also won a Grammy, a Daytime Emmy, and a Tony Award for her work on stage and on camera.

“To be given this recognition to celebrate the work that I love to do within the arts, specifically music and drama, is an honour I could never have thought would happen,” Erivo said

“I hope it shows that I care deeply about the work and will continue to do so to the best of my abilities,” continued Erivo, according to The Independent.

Success of Wicked

Wicked and Wicked: For Good, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, have been box office and critical successes.

According to Billboard, Wicked: For Good has grossed $503.9 million worldwide in its first five weeks at the box office, which puts it at No. 3 on Billboard’s list of the top-grossing films that are adapted from Broadway musicals.
