ACCOUNTANT – STANDERTON

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB PURPOSE:

The incumbent will be responsible to maintain the integrity of the financial accounting function in accordance with sound accounting practices, company policy and legislative requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Relevant Diploma/Degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification (BCom Accounting and/or Management Accounting)

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • At least 5 years’ relevant financial experience
  • Excellent administration skills
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure
  • Good time-management skills
  • Good conflict management skills
  • Strong computer literacy especially in Microsoft Office and Syspro

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Be willing to travel
  • Must be fully bilingual (English/Afrikaans) and understand and communicate in Afrikaans to a large extent

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE:

  • Execution of financial monthly reporting
  • Performing of month-end and vat reconciliations and submissions
  • Analysis of reports to advise on cash-flow, budgets and forecasts
  • Prepared operating and capital budget for Livestock Division
  • Provision of financial, taxation and business development
  • Responsible for general administrative processes
  • Accounting transaction processing
  • Audit and audit planning
  • Ensure legal compliance
  • Debtors and creditors management
  • Cash flow management and optimal management of interest earned/paid on loan accounts
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Perform provisional tax calculations and submit the relevant return bi-annually
  • Perform income tax calculations and submit the relevant return annually
  • Perform financial due diligence on new acquisitions in Livestock
  • Document key financial controls and oversee compliance with such controls
  • Analyse expenses and make recommendations to the business manager
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements
