Tshwane relocates 220 Mamelodi flood victims to serviced stands in Pienaarspoort

Tshwane has relocated 220 Mamelodi flood victims to serviced stands in Pienaarspoort.
The move follows severe weather that destroyed homes across Gauteng.
The City says the relocation will improve safety, living conditions, and access to services for affected families.

The City of Tshwane has successfully relocated 220 flood victims from various informal settlements in Mamelodi to serviced stands in Pienaarspoort.

This comes after these families were destroyed by heavy rains and severe weather conditions that caused havoc across Gauteng.

Human Settlements spokesperson in the City, Melandré Frost, says this marks a significant milestone in the City’s efforts to improve living conditions, enhance safety, and ensure sustainable access to basic services for affected communities.

The beneficiaries were relocated from the following areas:

25 families from Mavuso
25 families from Marikana
25 families from Seven 7
25 families from Willow Farm
6 families from Mamelodi EXT
17families from Nkandla
39 families from Soul City
25 families from Alaska

“This development enables the City to install and maintain bulk infrastructure more effectively while ensuring that relocated households benefit from safer, more stable, and dignified living environments.

The City remains committed to accelerating human settlement delivery and improving the quality of life for all residents,” says Frost.
