An Orlando Pirates star has particularly impressed Kaizer Chiefs legend Willard Katsande.

The Buccanners signed a host of new players in the off-season. In fact, no less than 14 new players arrived at the club.

With a new coach, and a refreshed squad, it was going to be interesting to see how all of the pieces of the puzzle fit together.

And after a slow start, many fans would’ve been concerned however, the new signings quickly rose to the occasion with many of them quickly becoming regulars.

Katsande names Orlando Pirates player as his star performer

As we approach the half-way mark of the season, Kaizer Chiefs legend Willard Katsande has selected his top performing players.

According to the former Amakhosi midfielder, no player has surprised him more than Masindi Nemtajela.

Nemtajela joined the Orlando Pirates as a rather surprise signing. The 23-year-old midfielder had a solid breakthrough campaign with Marumo Gallants last season before being snapped up by the Bucs.

So far this season, the hard-running midfielder has made 11 appearances for Pirates. In fact, he’s fast becoming a favourite of coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

“It’s been a very interesting season so far, one of the best in the Betway Premiership era,” Katsande told FARPost regarding the Orlando Pirates midfielder.

“First up, I’d pick Masindi Nemtajela. He’s a fantastic baller who can handle the ball well and cover a lot of ground. He’s very skilful. If you play nice, he plays nice, and if you want to play ugly, he can handle that too. He also takes plenty of long‑range shots.”

Katsande a Kaizer Chiefs legend and midfield icon of his own

Willard Katsande will go down as one of the best midfielders in the PSL era. He made over 300 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs.

He has 30 appearances against Orlando Pirates. Needless to say, if he was still playing it would’ve been an epic battle against Nemtajela.
