Sol Phenduka

Radio presenter Sol Phenduka has been nominated for the 2025 Telkom Radio Awards, just months after being let go by Kaya 959.

The Podcast and Chill co-host scored a nod in the Best Traffic Presenter category for his work on Siz the World, one of nine nominations for the station this year.

Fans were quick to react to the announcement on social media, expressing both amusement and surprise at the unexpected turn of events.

While Sol celebrated the nomination, he did not comment directly on the situation’s ironic twist.

“Look who’s nominated for best traffic presenter at the radio awards,” he remarked, keeping the tone light.

Sol’s show, co-hosted alongside Mpho Maboi and Mfundo Mabalane with Sizwe Dhlomo as the main presenter, had quickly gained popularity thanks to his witty and informative take on current affairs.

His distinctive style and engaging delivery had made him a fan favourite, which only amplified the reaction when news of his termination broke.

In August, Sol was suspended amid a high-profile defamation case involving Minnie Dlamini and his Podcast and Chill co-host MacGyver “Mac G” Mukwevho.

The lawsuit centred on remarks MacG had made about Dlamini’s personal life. Less than a month later, Sol’s contract with Kaya 959 was terminated, sparking outrage among his listeners.
