Angelique Kidjo appreciates Master KG and Nomcebo after bagging Grammys nomination for ‘Jerusalema’

Award-winning Beninese-French musician Angelique Kidjo has once again secured a Grammy nomination, reaffirming her status as one of Africa’s most celebrated artists.

The global icon was nominated in the Best Global Music Performance category for her rendition of Jerusalema, the chart-topping hit originally created by South African stars Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode.

Taking to social media, Kidjo expressed her gratitude to the duo, acknowledging them as the brilliant minds behind the viral anthem.

“So proud to see Jerusalema nominated in the Best Global Performance category at the 2026 Grammy® Awards,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Thanks to the writers of this great song: @masterkgsa @nomcebo_zikode,” she added

Kidjo’s heartfelt post sparked celebration online, with friends, fellow musicians, and fans flooding her comments section with congratulations.

Many also took a moment to praise Nomcebo and Master KG, who are currently in a legal dispute with Open Mic Productions over ownership and royalties for the internationally acclaimed song.

This marks yet another Grammy nod for Kidjo, who has made a habit of earning international recognition almost every year through her powerful performances and dedication to African music.
