Former Orlando Pirates winger set for shock Sekhukhune move

Former Orlando Pirates winger Ronaldo Maarman is on verge of joining Sekhukhune United by pulling off a major transfer, who has verbally agreed to join the club. 

The 25-year-old is expected to complete his move after finalising medicals, which remain the last hurdle before signing the contract.

Chippa United exodus opens door

Maarman recently parted ways with Chippa United, who released him along with 17 other players in a dramatic squad overhaul. During his time with the Chilli Boys, he made 64 appearances across all competitions and netted five goals.

A source confirmed:

“The 25-year-old is close to signing with Sekhukhune after they verbally agreed on the deal, with the contract yet to be signed and medicals remaining the outstanding thing.”

From Pirates to Babina Noko

Maarman previously spent three seasons at Orlando Pirates, though his time included loan spells at Cape Town All Stars and Chippa United. He joined the Chilli Boys permanently in 2023 on a free transfer after his contract with the Buccaneers expired.

Now, Sekhukhune United have moved quickly to snap up the winger ahead of the new campaign. The team will return to pre-season camp on Tuesday. Where Maarman could potentially link up with his new teammates.

Tinkler targets stronger finish

Head coach Eric Tinkler has made no secret of his ambition to strengthen the squad. As Babina Noko look to improve on their impressive fourth-place finish in the 2024/2025 season.
