  • Popular Lekompo musician Molimisi “Dr Nel” Baaitsi (29) was found dead in the early hours of Sunday, 2 November 2025, in Lephalale.
  • Police confirmed the rising star had succumbed to fatal injuries after allegedly being attacked between Seleka Number 1 and Number 2 villages.
  • The motive for the fatal assault remains unknown, and police are currently investigating, with no arrests yet made.

The community of Lephalale, Limpopo, is in mourning following the tragic death of popular Lekompo music star, Molimisi “Dr Nel” Baaitsi, who was found deceased in the early hours of Sunday, 2 November 2025.

The 29-year-old musician was allegedly attacked between the villages of Seleka Number 1 and Number 2, according to police reports.

Paramedics, alerted by community members, arrived at the scene to find Dr Nel unresponsive; he had succumbed to fatal injuries.

Dr Nel was a rising figure in the South African Lekompo music scene, known for popular hits including “Tshwara Fase” and “Leoto La Mpete.”

The motive behind the fatal assault remains unknown, and as of yet, no arrests have been made. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
