Moremi and Makgopa’s stunners send Pirates into CKO semis

Orlando Pirates came into this game with a dark cloud hanging over the Orlando Stadium after a distressing exit from the CAF Champions League on penalties against Congolese outfit Saint-Eloi Lupopo.

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou made three changes with Camren Dansin, Nkosikhona Ndaba and Yanela Mbuthuma replacing Sihle Nduli, Deon Hotto and Sipho Mbule.

ORLANDO PIRATES QUALIFY FOR THE CARLING KNOCKOUT SEMIFINALS WITH A 2-0 WIN OVER MAGESI FC

The Sea Robbers dominated the first half, but for Magesi FC’s goalkeeper, Elvis Chipezeze’s top goalkeeping.

Chipezeze, who was named the Man of the Match, was eventually beaten by a scorching strike from Tshepang Moremi in the 55th minute, followed by a superb strike by substitute Evidence Makgopa in the 88th minute. Magesi managed to find a consolation goal via Lehlegonolo Mokone in stoppage time.

Orlando Pirates join Golden Arrows, Richards Bay FC in the Carling Knockout semifinals. The last quarterfinal battle will see Marumo Gallants host Stellenbosch FC on Wednesday at the Dr Molemela Stadium at 19:00.
