Mia le Roux reflects on Miss South Africa journey

As the country welcomes the addition of a new Miss South Africa, another has ended her year-long chapter.

On Saturday, millions of viewers were glued to their television screens as the Miss South Africa organisation officially unveiled Qhawekazi Mazaleni as the newest crown bearer. While the stage was filled with teary smiles, lights, and confetti, the journey ultimately came to an end for the former reigning queen, Mia Le Roux.

Following the postponement of the annual pageantry event earlier this year, Mia officially holds the record for the longest reigning Miss South Africa.

With this chapter of her life having now come to an end, there is an abundance of highs and lows she has experienced over the last year.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, she recently reflected on the experience.

“As I reflect on this incredible journey, my heart is full. None of it would have been possible without the love, support, and strength of my village.”

“You’ve reminded me that when we uplift one another, something truly beautiful happens. When love overflows, it naturally finds its way back into the world.”

Meanwhile, she had nothing but praise to give the new title holder, Qhawekazi. The two have spent lots of time together in the build-up to the grand finale. For Mia, there is nobody more deserving than her.

“Qhawekazi, it was my greatest honour of the night to pass the crown on to you. As I’ve gotten to know you, I saw a powerful leader who is authentic not only in her advocacy but in who she is,” she wrote.

“I know you will only enrich and broaden the legacy of Miss South Africa. My heart is bursting with pride and excitement for you. You deserve it. Enjoy every single second of your year.”
