Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has struggled to get the team back to the top this season.

The 59-year-old Tunisian coach was appointed head coach of Amakhosi in July and many fans believed he was the man to turn their fortunes around. Nine months later, the club find themselves fighting to stay in the top eight with just six matches remaining.

Pundits believe Nabi could quit Kaizer Chiefs

Former Chiefs assistant coach Farouk Khan told Peter Du Toit on Soccer Beat that Nabi’s body language suggested that he was tired and frustrated.

“If you look as his facial expression, Nabi is a man that is mentally tired and physically tired,” he said.

After Chiefs’ 1-1 draw with TS Galaxy this past weekend, the Amakhosi coach blamed the lack of wins due ot bad luck.

“The players today gave everything to get a good result. We are going through a moment of bad luck,” he said.

“Because of a lack of results we need to hang in there. Everyone has to push more and work hard. We are pretty sure the luck is going to come back and we will see where we finish at the end of the league.”

Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager hinted that Nabi was staying for another season. In a video which was shared on X (Twitter), the Amakhosi boss was seen sharing his thoughts on Jose Riveiro’s departure.

“Did you see the Pirates coach is leaving? They will be average next season. We are not changing (our coach). Stuart Baxter did the same thing. He won for three seasons. Once he saw that his profile had improved, what did he do? things are like that,” Motaung said.

It remains to be seen if Nabi can survive beyond this season with Kaizer Chiefs struggling in the league. Amakhosi have one last chance to salvage their season and that will only happen if they win the Nedbank Cup. The Soweto giants play Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday and defeat could see Nabi exit the club before the end of the season.

How far will Nabi take Amakhosi?
