Rwanda – Rwanda’s Health Minister has told the public that the Marburg virus outbreak, which was declared on 27 September, is now under control. Minister Nsanzimana explained the country’s plan to fight the virus at a meeting with diplomats and development partners. Rwanda received 700 trial doses of a Marburg vaccine, which were given to healthcare workers and people who had contact with infected individuals. Over 200 people have been vaccinated, with few side effects reported. So far, 13 people have died since the outbreak started.
US – Vice President Kamala Harris has been speaking out more dramatically against Donald Trump, as some Democrats are worried about her chances of becoming president. She called Trump “unstable” and “unhinged” and said he wants “unchecked power.” Speaking in Pennsylvania, Harris warned voters about the dangers of giving Trump a second term and pointed to his authoritarian comments. Harris’s team also questioned Trump’s mental health, a strategy Trump himself used against President Biden.
Congo – Congo has cancelled an auction of 27 oil exploration sites due to late applications and not enough competition. The auction, which started two years ago, did not go as planned. The 27 oil sites are believed to hold about 22 billion barrels of oil. Congo had hoped to expand drilling, but now a new auction will be planned, though no date has been set yet. Environmental groups are worried because some of these sites are in protected areas of the Congo Basin rainforest and peatlands, which are important for capturing carbon emissions and fighting climate change.

Bow Wow called Combs the “gatekeeper to the game” and said he missed his presence in the music industry, especially at events like the BET Awards.
