Group A2 of the Uefa Nations League saw Italy and France go clear of Belgium with important victories to wrap up their international breaks on Monday night football.

Randal Kolo Muani was the star in Brussels as he netted a brace for France in their 2-1 win over the Belgians.

The PSG man got the opener from the penalty spot just minutes after the hosts missed a spot-kick of their own.

Loïs Openda equalised shortly before the break; and his side had more opportunities to go ahead as the game progressed.

Cometh the hour, cometh Kolo Muani yet again, though; and this time it would be the winner.

Despite the French going down to ten for the final phases of play after Aurélien Tchouaméni saw red, they held on for an important three points that sent them five clear of Belgium, who remain in third.

Leaders Italy thrashed Israel 4-1 to stay a point clear of France at the top. Napoli’s Giovanni Di Lorenzo stole the show with two goals while Mateo Retegui and Davide Frattesi were also on target for the Azzuri.

In Group A3, Germany beat Netherlands 1-0 while Dominik Szobozslai netted a brace in Hungary’s 2-0 away win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On Tuesday, Group A1 and A4 action continues as Portugal travel to Scotland, Poland host Croatia, Switzerland play Denmark and Spain face Serbia.
