Operation Restore in Sherwood Park, Cape Town, led to the arrest of a 37-year-old man and the confiscation of dagga valued at R300,000.
Western Cape police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, said police acted on intelligence and searched a home in York Road, where they found a large amount of cannabis and an undisclosed amount of cash.
“The ongoing efforts to stop drug dealing continue to show success,” said Swartbooi. The man was arrested and charged with dealing in dagga.
In a separate case, police officers, working on a tip-off, arrested a suspect on 11 October in Jones Street, Oudtshoorn.
They watched a delivery vehicle arrive and saw a suspicious person collect a package, which was found to contain methamphetamine worth R92,750.
A Nigerian man was arrested for dealing in drugs.
Suspects in both cases are due to appear in court soon.
Resident Luthando Mputi, 45, believes the recent arrests are due to the work of the Government of National Unity (GNU).
“The GNU’s efforts are visible, and drug dealers are finding themselves behind bars,” he said.
