Wydad Casablanca coach Rhulani Mokwena is having a tough time in Morocco.

His team has won two, drawn two, and lost one in the Botola Pro League this season.

On Tuesday, Wydad lost 1-0 to Jeunesse Sportive Soualem in the cup, making things worse for Mokwena.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach has been complaining about referees and getting into trouble.

“What I want to say to the Moroccan FA, the public, and the authorities is that I am 100% committed to seeing football developing in this country,” Mokwena said, apologising for his referee comments.

Cassius Mailula, also at Wydad, hasn’t scored in four games.

In Egypt, Fagrie Lakay has been loaned to Cleopatra FC by Pyramids after scoring nine goals last season.

Khanyisa Mayo has played five games for CR Belouizdad in Algeria, starting in only one and scoring no goals.

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos doesn’t like South African players going to North Africa. He told Oswin Appollis:

“I told him in September when we were in camp, I know there’s money, but it’s not the right team for you,” Broos said.

“I am happy that he is still in Polokwane City. He will always play there, which is a good thing. You see what happens with Mayo, who is not playing.”

Broos said the football mentality in North Africa is different to that in Southern Africa.

“It’s not only your quality that is important but also your mentality. You have to adapt to that mentality, and that is not easy.”

In Tunisia, Elias Mokwena has played 53 minutes in three games for Esperance, all as a sub.
