Extra Time: The Carling Cup could be Kaizer Chiefs’ chance to finally win a trophy, writes Michael Madyira.

Kaizer Chiefs began the 2024-25 PSL season well, giving fans hope despite losing to Sundowns recently.

New signings like Gaston Sirino and Inacio Miguel have impressed so far – a change from past transfer mistakes.

Chiefs fans were excited after just two league games, but some rivals have said it’s too early to judge.

Chiefs last won a trophy in 2015 when they claimed the PSL title.

The Carling Knockout offers a chance to prove they’ve improved and can end their nine-year trophy drought.

In recent years, rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have won multiple trophies.

Pirates took five cups in two years, while Sundowns dominated the PSL and won the African Football League.

Chiefs now face a tough test against SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout last-16.

Winning this match could boost their confidence and show they can go all the way.
