A school deputy principal was shot dead, and his body was found in the Gabon informal settlement in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, on Wednesday morning.
Sipho Nhlengetwa from Rivoni Secondary School died after meeting an unknown man at the school.
A school worker said the man came looking for Nhlengetwa early this morning. When Nhlengetwa arrived, he parked inside the yard and left with the man.
Nhlengetwa was reportedly going to a meeting about a colleague’s case.
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane said they’re devastated by Nhlengetwa’s death.
In April, another teacher, Seraka Mogoswane from Unity Secondary, was also killed. He had been trying to unite the divided school.
Captain Nelda Sekgobela said Ekurhuleni police are investigating the murder.
“We don’t know why he was killed or who did it. We’re still investigating. If anyone knows anything, please tell the police or call the toll-free Crime Stop number 08600 10111,” Sekgobela said.
