Crime bites: Man gets life for killing mother who ‘cursed’ him

Mganduzwane – Bongani Thulani Matsane, 33, got life in prison plus five years for killing Thembi Ngwenya, his 64-year-old mother. He believed she had put a curse on him. He beat his mother, dragged her to a bed, and set her on fire. This happened in December 2022.

Amouti – KwaZulu Natal police found part of a human body by the road on Tuesday morning. It was the torso and arms, wrapped in pink and cream bedding. The body was decomposing. Police aren’t sure if it’s related to the case of a head and legs being found in the trash on Friday, October 4.

Marikana – A 47-year-old police sergeant was arrested for trying to kill a 22-year-old man whom he thought was flirting with his girlfriend at a bar on 30 September.

Christiana – North West police arrested a 40-year-old man for killing his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend. He found the man at his ex’s house and shot him in the head. Police later found the cut-up body in a river. This happened on 28 September.

Mangaung – Police need help finding Twane Enoch Lata, 73. He was last seen on 13 September wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans, a red jacket, and black shoes. Twane is dark-skinned, thin and tall, with grey hair and a beard.
