Police have arrested a man for shooting his mother, his brother, and his girlfriend. The suspect also shot at two of his colleagues and burned down their vehicles.

During the bloody rampage on Sunday in Mamelodi East, Tshwane, his girlfriend died at the scene, two of his colleagues were rushed to hospital, and his brother sustained bullet wounds.

The suspect shot both his mother and brother when they tried to intervene during an altercation he had with his girlfriend.

Gauteng Province police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said it was reported that the suspect had an altercation with his girlfriend.

“When his mother and brother tried to intervene, he shot them, injuring his brother. He then turned the gun on his girlfriend, who was declared dead at the scene,” said Nevhuhulwi.

She said that after the shooting, the man fled the scene, and later that day, a report was received that the same suspect had shot two of his colleagues and burned their vehicles.

“Both those victims are alive and receiving treatment at a local hospital. The suspect has since been arrested, and the firearm has been seized,” she said.

“He is expected to appear in court on charges of murder and attempted murder.”
