Premier Soccer League (PSL) has charged Kaizer Chiefs for “fielding two defaulters”, Mduduzi Shabalala and Aden McCarthy, in a DStv Premiership match.

Shabalala and McCarthy were unused substitutes in a league game between Chiefs and Sekhukhune on the 12th of December 2021 at FNB stadium. Amakhosi won the game 2-0, thanks to goals by Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Phathutshedzo Nange.

According to Majavu, the two youngsters were not eligible to sit on the bench nor play in the DStv Premiership as they were not registered.

“I hereby confirm that Kaizer Chiefs has been charged for fielding two defaulters, namely, Aden McCarthy and Mduduzi Shabalala, in a match between themselves and Sekhukhune,” said Majavu.

“These players were not properly registered for purposes of the DStv Premiership league but were registered for purposes of the reserve league; that is the basis of the allegations which they are facing.

“The matter has been enrolled for hearing on the 14th of April 2022 at 14:00. Once the matter is finalised, I will confirm the outcome of the DC”.
