Amajita have qualified for the 2025 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations after beating Angola 1-0 in the Cosafa Under-20 Championships semi-final.
Cape Town City’s Jody Lee Ah-Shene scored his third goal of the tournament to send South Africa through.
They’ll face Zambia in Saturday’s final.
Coach Raymond Mdaka is thrilled.
“Everybody wanted to qualify for CAF, and that was one of the encouraging aspects. There were serious challenges, but I’m happy for the boys. They did well,” he said after the game.
This is Amajita’s first Afcon since 2017, when they finished as runners-up to hosts Zambia.
Mdaka’s team has won all four games, scoring 14 goals without conceding.
“What we have cultivated in our boys is a winning mentality,” he said.
South Africa has won Cosafa eight times but never Afcon. Reaching the Afcon semi-finals would secure a 2025 Fifa Under-20 World Cup spot.
“We still have one step to seriously work on. We will be happy and appreciate it if we win the tournament,” Mdaka added.
