Racing legend Michael Schumacher was spotted in public for the first time in a decade at his daughter’s wedding.
His daughter Gina-Maria, 27, married Iain Bethke on Saturday at their family home in Majorca, Spain.
Michael, known to his millions of fans in the motor racing world as Schumi, still needs constant medical care after a tragic skiing accident. The accident, over a decade ago, happened in France when his head hit a rock, and he instantly fell into a coma.
Since September 2014, he’s cared for at home by his wife Corinna and doctors. Corinna, who has been with Michael since they were teenagers, is very private about Michael’s condition, allowing only close friends and family to visit.
Michael’s wedding appearance might show that the family is becoming more open about his situation. He’s been to their Spanish house before, but he was seen around the wedding guests this time.
To keep things private, guests weren’t allowed to bring phones to the wedding to avoid pictures being taken. Michael is now 55.
