North West police are offering up to R50,000 for information leading to the arrest of those who torched 23 Bojanala buses.

North West police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh said two malicious damage cases were reported early on Tuesday at two Bojanala bus depots.

“Six buses at the Bojanala bus depot in Chaneng and a further 17 buses at Tlaseng were set on fire, with an estimated combined value of R69-million,” Myburgh said.

“The buses burnt to ashes,” she added.

Lieutenant-General Sello Kwena, the provincial police commissioner, urged the public to help catch “these ruthless criminals, whose actions are hampering the transportation of schoolchildren and elderly persons”.
