Famous actress Itumeleng Bokaba has accused artist manager Nota Baloyi of raping her.
This was after revealing she got only 59 cents in royalties for Mayibabo.
Baloyi confirmed to Sunday World that the actress had opened a case with the police.
“I learned about this matter on Thursday when the police called me,” he said.
“I told the cops that I needed to engage my lawyer and get back to them to make my own statement.”
On Instagram, the former Rhythm City star said she wanted to keep the matter private, but blogger Musa Khawula made it public.
Bokaba said the rape claim isn’t linked to the Mayibabo royalties issue from last week.
“I know everyone is concerned and panicked right now, but I want to assure you that I’m okay… This situation occurred before the ‘Mayibabo’ saga that made headlines last week, and it is not connected to that issue, other than unfortunate timing and overlap of people involved.”
Baloyi defended himself, saying they had sex, but it was consensual, and Bokaba started it.
“Anything that happened was consensual and was initiated by her, not me, and that is on record,” he said.
Baloyi filed for a protection order against Bokaba at the Johannesburg North Magistrates’ Court in Randburg after her rape accusation.
The protection order, if approved, would limit Bokaba’s contact with Baloyi.
