Chelsea thumped Barrow while Manchester City got past Watford on a routine night of English League Cup football.
After Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were among the sides to progress in last week’s action, four more teams got to book their spot in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.
The most goals came at Stamford Bridge, where the Blues defeated League Two leaders Barrow 5-0.
Christopher Nkunku was the hatrick hero while Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk all looked bright going forward for Enzo Maresca’s men.
Over at the Etihad, Jeremy Doku opened the scoring before Matheus Nunes got his first Manchester City goal before the break.
There would be questions asked at the death as Paul Ince pulled one back for Watford. However it would be City’s night, as Pep Guardiola’s side came out 2-1 winners.
On the occasion of Wycombe Wanderers’ 137th birthday, Aston Villa would be ready to spoil the party.
Emiliano Buendia and Jhon Duran were the goalscorers as Unai Emery’s troops picked up a 2-1 victory.
As far as upsets go, there very well could have been one at Walsall — where Leicester City were held to a goalless draw resulting in a penalty shootout.
Danny Ward was the star, though, saving three penalties to ensure that ths Foxes got the job done in a 3-0 shootout win.
On Wednesday, cup holders Liverpool will be in action against West Ham United while Arsenal face Bolton Wanderers in the only other game of the night.
