A stunning Saturday showing at Anfield leaves Liverpool back at the summit of the Premier League table — but only until super Sunday’s prime time battle at the Etihad.
Arne Slot’s troops were back in the goals at home with a 3-0 win over Bournemouth to mark an important return to league form following their shock defeat to Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Luis Diaz was on the money with a quick brace before Darwin Nunez opened his account for the season with a simply stunning left-footed strike.
Elsewhere on the goal rush, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa both came back from behind to beat Brentford and Wolves 3-1.
Fulham beat Newcastle by the same scoreline, while Leicester versus Everton and Southampton against Ipswich both ended in 1-1 draws.
In the earlier action, Chelsea beat West Ham 3-0 on London derby day while Manchester United and Crystal Palace finished goalless in the late game.
All eyes will now turn to 17:30 on Sunday when Manchester City host Arsenal. Before that, Brighton take on Nottingham Forest at 15:00. All the action will be broadcast live on Supersport.
