Abdul Kader Davids, one of the accused in the R1-million tender fraud case involving former DA councillor Malusi Booi, was shot and killed just two days after being released on R250,000 bail.

Davids, 42, was gunned down on Thursday evening while walking in Ascot Street, Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie said unknown gunmen opened fire on the victim, who was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel.

The motive behind the killing is under investigation.

Davids was reportedly close to Ralph Stanfield, an alleged leader of the 28s gang.

Stanfield and his wife, Nicole Johnson, are also involved in the ongoing tender fraud case, with their construction company Glomix being part of the investigation.

Authorities are exploring whether Davids’s murder is linked to the tender fraud case or to gang-related activities.

Mitchells Plain police are investigating the case to uncover the reason behind the fatal shooting.
