Four armed men broke into the White City Clinic in Kwa-Thema, Ekurhuleni, on Sunday night, stealing medication worth R10,000, five computers, cleaning supplies worth R30,000, and three plasma TVs valued at R9,000.
The security guard on duty said in his statement to the police that he heard a knock on the door while in the guard room.
Two armed men forced their way in and demanded firearms, which he didn’t have.
They called in two more men, took his cellphone, tied his hands, and led him to the main clinic.
The criminals then searched the offices and stole various items before leaving the guard tied up inside.
Resident Maria Skhosana is worried that criminals are now targeting clinics.
“Our clinic already doesn’t have enough resources, and now these thieves have made things worse. We need more security, like crime prevention wardens, to be stationed at clinics,” she said.
Kwa-Thema police spokesperson Constable Nkululeko Magudulela confirmed they are investigating the robbery.
No arrests have been made yet, and anyone with information should contact the Kwa-Thema police station.
