The reapplication of bail for Pastor Paseka Mboro containing new facts didn’t go without drama at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court today.
Walking into the court gallery without his bodyguard, Mboro of the Incredible Happenings Church greeted his congregants who filled the court gallery and preached “God is good, all the time”.
In the court gallery, Mboro ordered his legal team to leave him alone to address the media.
His lawyers asked that he wait for the court to hear his reapplication for bail on new facts but the charismatic pastor wouldn’t have any of that.
“No, ntlogoleng lona (leave me alone), I am trusting God.
“It is my life here, I am being punished because I am a famous pastor.
“My cars are being destroyed, my church was burned down by the maternal family that wants to take the children who were born in my house and raised by me and my son,” he said.
Walking into the court gallery without his bodyguard, Clement Baloyi, pastor Mboro greeted his congregants who filled the court gallery and began to preach.
The docket was not in court and the state lawyer, Pheello Vilakazi, said he didn’t know that the matter had been placed on the court roll on Monday but knew of the matter postponed for 21 October.
The schedule five bail reapplication was postponed to 9 September for the state to go through new evidence.
In the previous court appearance on 19 August, Mboro and Baloyi were denied bail and the matter was postponed to 21 October for further investigation.
Mboro is facing charges of kidnapping, discharging of a gun, pointing of a firearm, assault by way of threats, malicious damage to property (where Mboro used his panga to break the padlock to gain access to the school), and possession of a gun, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a dangerous firearm.
In a custody battle over his four grandchildren, on 5 August Mboro allegedly forced access into Matshidiso Primary School demanding that the children be released into the care of their father, Vincent Motshoeneng.
In videos that went viral, Mboro can be seen wielding a panga and threatening to assault teachers at the children’s schools while the bodyguard is in possession of semi-automatic firearms.
The children were placed temporarily in the custody of their maternal grandmother since their mother died in April.
